A lovely stay in the City of Bangkok
We arrived at 4.30 p.m. in the afternoon, and we had a message to say we were being picked up the next morning at 8.00 a.m., so we changed that ! Which was not a problem. The concierge was fantastic, and that night organised for us to go by taxi to a restaurant that he had recommended called the “Local”, which was great. After doing the Temples, which are amazing, especially seeing the reclining Buddha. We then went to another restaurant that was recommended called Cabbages and Condoms, that was also very good, and we saw some Thai dancers there. The following day we did the railway market, the floating market and the Coconut Farm, all were a fantastic expierience. We did have to leave the hotel at 7.00 a.m.!
We then went on the underground, my friend looked at you tube a couple of times, and said we could do it, and it was simple to navigate. We decided to do this, as the traffic is soo bad, and we would never would have reached our destination, China Town. We were then packing to leave the hotel at around 2.15 p.m. then the earthquake struck at 1.20 p.m. while we were packing! Quite scary as the building was swaying for about five minutes. We finished packing in record time and went down to reception, who were really good and took our cases, and got everyone outside, with water, and erecting gazebos. Our taxi driver was there, so we opted to just get to the airport, which we did and only had one hour delay!
I think that the Lancaster Hotel was a good location and they seemed to help with all our requests. Our room was lovely.
