A lovely stay in the City of Bangkok

We arrived at 4.30 p.m. in the afternoon, and we had a message to say we were being picked up the next morning at 8.00 a.m., so we changed that ! Which was not a problem. The concierge was fantastic, and that night organised for us to go by taxi to a restaurant that he had recommended called the “Local”, which was great. After doing the Temples, which are amazing, especially seeing the reclining Buddha. We then went to another restaurant that was recommended called Cabbages and Condoms, that was also very good, and we saw some Thai dancers there. The following day we did the railway market, the floating market and the Coconut Farm, all were a fantastic expierience. We did have to leave the hotel at 7.00 a.m.! We then went on the underground, my friend looked at you tube a couple of times, and said we could do it, and it was simple to navigate. We decided to do this, as the traffic is soo bad, and we would never would have reached our destination, China Town. We were then packing to leave the hotel at around 2.15 p.m. then the earthquake struck at 1.20 p.m. while we were packing! Quite scary as the building was swaying for about five minutes. We finished packing in record time and went down to reception, who were really good and took our cases, and got everyone outside, with water, and erecting gazebos. Our taxi driver was there, so we opted to just get to the airport, which we did and only had one hour delay! I think that the Lancaster Hotel was a good location and they seemed to help with all our requests. Our room was lovely.

Would go back!

The hotel is lovely and staff spoke good English! The room was clean, had all the amenities and comfortable bed. It’s close to trams that take you to central in 10 minutes. The breakfast was good too but needed more hot place variety. Ignore all the negativity reviews.

Lovely breakfast, convenient location - would return.

Polite & helpful staff, lovely room with space to relax after busy days out. Convenient location for tram into the main part of town but away from the noise / bustle. Lovely breakfast included in our booking - great choice of fresh produce in a relaxed atmosphere.

Very good but could be better

We were given a room in the basement so no view. We’re only staying 3 nights so not too bothered but it would have been better to have a brighter main light. The bed was extremely comfortable, the bedroom and the bath room was very clean and quite stylish. Our biggest complaint was that they have a “pop up restaurant” which is the Kanard restaurant next door. We weren’t told this until we went to eat and was refused as we didn’t have a booking. To make matters worse they also refused to serve us a drink from the bar as they said it was for the restaurant customers only. The staff in the hotel were all very helpful. Would we stay here again…….yes! Foot note, as a result of the restaurant episode we found a great little Italian La Roma just round the corner, very reasonable prices and serving drinks.

Fantastic long weekend at The Lancaster Hotel

Well located, friendly staff, good food, clean, decent sized rooms. Easy access into city centre - 20min stroll or 10min on tram from stop virtually outside the door. Street busy during day, but not too bad and very quiet at night - with a few nice cafe bars & restaurants. We really couldn't have asked for more.
